10 Best Wedding Venues in Koh Samui, Thailand
When couples are planning their destination wedding in Thailand, usually the first question they ask is “What are the best wedding venues in Koh Samui?”
Therefore there’s a few things to consider when choosing a Koh Samui wedding venue. Do you want the service of a 5-star resort, or the privacy or a private villa? Do you want the sweeping views from up in the hills or the ocean-front access down on the beach?
Generally it’s important to remember to ask venues if they can handle a late night party until sunrise or if they will shut things down by 11pm? So if that’s a concern, then private villas are definitely the way to go.
There’s lots to consider, so I’ve made a list of the 5 best wedding venues in Koh Samui, to make your search a little bit easier.
If you’re interested in the perks of a large resort experience, then The Conrad Koh Samui is a great option. Combining 5-star luxury with intimate, attentive service, The Conrad also offers sweeping clifftop views of the ocean and a large ballroom if it rains.
Correspondingly, another great resort to consider for a destination wedding in Koh Samui is the InterContinental. The InterCon sits on a beautiful hillside property in the southwestern part of the island called Baan Taling Ngam. Its a gorgeous venue with a magnificent pier and a jungle bridge that are amazing for wedding photos.
YL Residence is the perfect wedding venue for couples that want sleek modernism on a beautiful beachfront property. It’s a unique property not only in its minimalist design, but also in its capacity – it’s one of the view private villas on the island that can host larger events with over 100 people.
Villa Katrani has a ton of space, a ton of character, and is one of the most unique private villas on Koh Samui. Perched on the top of a hill with vast views of the ocean, Katrani has an enormous grass lawn, and a villa with South Asian design accents – perfect for large Indian weddings. It also has its own separate party building – surely the only villa on the island with its own nightclub!
Another private villa up on a hillside with sweeping ocean views, Villa Koh Koon has a perfect blend of original design, amenities and plenty of space for a wedding. Its also just up the hill from Chaweng Beach, so it’s very easy for guests to pop in and out for trips to the beach and the main party scene on Koh Samui.
Tucked inside a quiet little neighbourhood in Lipa Noi, Villa Inasia is a great option for smaller weddings – think 40 or fewer guests. Its got the perfect swimming pool for late night parties – every wedding I’ve photographed there has ended up in the pool!
This private villa is a small wonder. It’s a modernist steel and glass villa on a cliff just up the road from the InterCon in Baan Taling Ngam. The View is one of the best villas in Thailand for smaller weddings of 50 or fewer guests.
X2 – or “cross two” – is a boutique spa retreat that can double as a wedding venue for mid-size destination weddings. The added perk here is the on-site spa for all your guests!
Another great smaller villa in Baan Taling Ngam, Baan Asan is a 5-bedroom beachside villa that can accommodate up to 60 guests.
Another 5-star resort with wonderful service, Banyan Tree Samui hosts a lot of Chinese weddings, so is a great option if you are planning traditional Chinese wedding activities like tea ceremony and door games.
This is just a small sampling of the best Wedding Venues in Koh Samui. However, it’s an extremely popular destination wedding location in Thailand, so there are a lot of great options.
